Frequently Asked Questions
Air conditioning condensing units (the unit
that sits outside) are designed to be outside. If you want to cover the
unit in the winter
time make sure that you
do not cover the unit completely, if you do the humidity will be trapped inside
of the unit and the unit will rust from the inside out. The unit needs air
circulation to ventilate the unit, especially on the moderate days.
This is also the reason that attics in houses are ventilated. An attic will
also build up moisture if not ventilated properly.
You can cover the top of the unit and about 1/2 way down if you want. This
allows plenty of room for air to circulate through the unit.
If you want to purchase a cover for the unit make sure that the
cover is a
ventilated cover.
